Mercedes and AMG turned up at this year’s Detroit Motor Show with a rich lineup of new and diverse models. Earlier we looked at the GLE Coupe S AMG, and now let’s check out two hot new sedans they have brought along, the Mercedes C350 Hybrid and C450 AMG.

Let’s begin with the clean and green Mercedes C350 Plug-in Hybrid. Despite the 350 name this car is actually powered by a 2.0 liter four-pot from the C250 model, boosted with an 80 horsepower electric motor. The combined output of the system is 275 horsepower and an impressive 600 Nm of torque.

In terms of fuel economy, you can count on 2.1 liters / 100 km or over 110 mpg, which is mind-boggling, with CO2 emissions of 48 g/km. Performance is equally impressive, with a o to 60 mph time of 5.9 seconds. You even get 19.3 miles (31 km) of pure electric drive. This car really does offer the best of both worlds.

As for the Mercedes C450 AMG, which is undeniably more interesting than the hybrid, it is the next best thing after the C63 AMG. Power comes from a twin-turbo V6 3.0-liter engine in a big 360 horsepower lump with 517 Nm of torque. 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and 7G-TRONIC are standard, and help you go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Visually too, the C450 AMG looks like a discount version of the C63 AMG. You get the sports bumpers and everything, but the there is less chrome, and the wheels are smaller at 18-inch. The same applies to the interior, suspension, brakes and electronic systems. The C450 comes in both sedan and wagon body styles.
