Volvo today revealed the first pictures of their biggest debut at this year’s Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS). It’s called the Volvo S60 Cross Country, and whichever way you cut it, it is a jacked-up S60 sedan. This is what happens when you run out of ideas what to do next.

Volvo S60 Cross Country is exactly what it seems to be, which is a high-riding family saloon. But before you dismiss it as a stupid idea, we have point out fusion cars that mix the virtues of a number of different classes and body styles are fairly popular these days. With the S60 Cross Country you get the high-riding driving position of a crossover/SUV, but the same comfort, convenience, and efficiency as the normal sedan. Granted, it does look kind of weird, but it offers so much. This car is like those all-in-one computers; bit ungainly, but mighty impressive at what they do, and pretty good value too.

Volvo S60 Cross Country will be launched into the market in the second quarter of 2015, packing a 190 hp diesel D4 engine. Later on an all-wheel-drive will be released with a 2.5 liter five-cylinder Drive-E powertrain.
