Kia SPORTSPACE Unveiled Ahead of Geneva Debut

After releasing just one teaser picture, Kia decided not to beat around the bush any longer and unveiled their brand-new Geneva Motor Show-bound concept. It is called the Kia SPORTSPACE and, according to its makers, it is a long distance cruiser.

The main characteristics of Kia SPORTSPACE that make it a suitable car for covering great distances include spaciousness, excellent ride comfort, decent performance and great efficiency. It is a car designed to minimize the driver’s stress.

But more important than all those is the design of the Kia SPORTSPACE, as it previews the next generation Optima, which is of course one of the Korean car maker’s best sellers. The designers were asked to come up with something stylish and exciting, but at the same time practical and functional. That’s why the car has a sort of shooting brake look about it, as it satisfies all those criteria.

Kia decided to stick with the ‘tiger nose’ grille for now, but in the SPORTPACE it doesn’t look as bad as it does on some of the production models mainly thanks to the cool-looking headlights and the sporty bumper. The next Optima is not going to disappoint design-wise.

“We set out to design a car that is a totally new breed of grand tourer – one for active people who need reasonable cargo space on the weekend, but don’t want to compromise moving around in style, comfort and with an element of sportiness,” explains Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe.
