Following an early preview a couple of days ago, Mercedes-Benz now fully unveils the new variant of the G-Class, known as the 4×4² (Squared). The car is basically a tuned version of the G500 riding on the 6×6’s axles. Well, two of them to be more precise.

Just looking at the Mercedes G500 4×4² you know this thing is huge fun to drive. The car is the embodiment of a big boy’s toy. But it’s also got the numbers to back this hypothesis. Under the bonnet there is a twin-turbo V8 engine, not the full-fat AMG unit, but a more mellow 420 horsepower version.

The power is delivered to the ground via permanent all-wheel-drive powertrain with portal axles, supported by dual spring/damper struts and adjustable damping and of course a set of massive 22-inch wheels with 325/55 R tires.

The body of Mercedes G500 4×4² is also unique, boasting carbon fiber panels including flared wheel arches like the 6×6, AMG bumpers, and unique crazy colors exclusive to this model. Inside the cabin you find the usual blend of designo leather and carbon fiber accents.

The pricing for Mercedes G500 4×4² has not been revealed yet, and that’s because Mercedes has not yet decided if they want to produce it. They have postponed the decision to after Geneva Motor Show and the public’s reaction to it. Don’t worry, they’re going to make it!
