There is no reason why would anyone choose the Alpina B6 over BMW’s own M6 Gran Coupe, which is a completely awesome car. But starting in March that will change thanks to the 2016 Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe, simply because it is more powerful than the M6.

The new Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe boasts a 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque version of the 4.4 liter V8 Bi-Turbo V-8 engine. That is 60 horsepower more than the 2015 model, and about 40 more than what the M6 offers.

Combined with the Alpina-calibrated BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system, that power takes the B6 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, and on to a top speed of 200 mph or 320 km/h. Meanwhile, systems like Alpina sport suspension, Alpina brakes, and Damper Control and Adaptive Drive make sure the car stays in check.

But to be frank performance is the only reason to go for the 2016 Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe. We still think the M6 Gran Coupe looks cooler than this car. The B6 is more unique, for sure, but it doesn’t have quite the same sex appeal as the gorgeous M6 GC. The same applies to the interior. Whereas the M6 comes with any bespoke features, the cabin of the B6 is a normal 6er interior with a bit more leather and wood.
