The strong and unforgiving Mad Max fever is spreading fast as we approach the premiere of a new iteration of the franchise called Fury Road on May 15. The whimsical folks of Lotus F1, who like to grace us every once in a while with their peculiar sense of humor, have now joined the party, unveiling a Mad Max F1 car.

This undeniably cool creation is described by Lotus F1 designers as “a fusion of Formula 1 technology reimagined for a post-apocalyptic future.” It is not just the designers having fun though. The whole thing is part of a deal with Warner studio’s European marketing team. Both Lotus F1 cars will also be wearing Mad Max-branded liveries during the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

Lotus Mad Max F1 car is a sight to behold, even though it is not really on the par with the real Mad Max cars in terms of swagger and style, and also craziness. It features all sorts of spikes and blades sticking out of its panels, and benefits from machines guns and flamethrowers The pièce de résistance of the car is a series of bronze skulls adorning the front wing.
