The Interschutz show in Hannover, Germany, which is like the Geneva Motor Show for fire fighters, saw the debut of a very special service car. It’s a Mercedes AMG GT Fire Fighter which is of course a normal GT wrapped in Germany’s fire department official livery.
The Mercedes AMG GT Fire Fighter car is most likely only a showpiece, but even so, it reflects AMG’s desire to promote this car as “safe.” I mean, the AMG GT is already appointed the official safety car for the Formula 1 and DTM racing series. For it to fight fire as well is just the icing on the cake!
The fire fighter AMG GT is an S model which means it is powered by a more potent version of the new 4.0 liter bi-turbo AMG V8 engine, developing 510 PS. It also comes with a different differential with electronic controls which, combined with the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission the car features, results in a fairly blistering performance.
Mercedes-Benz also revealed a couple of custom-built, specifically-equipped Mercedes E-Class Ambulances at Interschutz. These are certainly faster than the normal van Ambulances and that makes them suitable for fast response.
