Luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer is usually associated only with extremely high-end names like Monte Carlo or Leo DiCaprio. This time though, they have teamed up with Nissan to create a special edition watch that marks the return of the Japanese car maker to the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the new Nissan GT-R LM Nismo.
Called TAG Heuer Carrera “NISMO” special edition, the watch is a Caliber 16 Day-Date Chronograph featuring a 43mm ceramic bezel and charcoal grey and red bands on the dial in titanium, micro-blasted with titanium carbide. The material makes the watch extremely resistant and lighter than steel, hence the name of the campaign it supports: #DontCrackUnderPressure
The watch also boasts Soft Touch matt alligator strap with red top-stitching, is water resistant to 100m, has a tachometer for measuring average speed and sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, and its case back is decorated with a Nissan NISMO decal.
“We want innovation, audacity and courage to return to the Le Mans course,” said Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and Chairman of the Watch Division of LVMH group. “Nissan NISMO is the perfect challenger, a pioneer when it comes to the technology in their cars, and also particularly in the way they communicate with young people using their massive social media presence. Just take a look at this car. It’s powerful, different and breaks the mold. It’s the perfect embodiment of our #DontCrackUnderPressure campaign.”
