Mercedes-Benz celebrated last weekend the race debut of the Mercedes AMG GT3 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a nice piece of artwork created by the designer of the car, Edgar Chu. He recreated a picture of the car using only black tape.

The artwork went on display at the Formula One Grand Prix in Silverstone during the race weekend while Mercedes AMG GT3 was busy competing at the Nürburgring. The venue mixup notwithstanding, the creation itself is a true work of art and looks more like a painting that some made purely from tape. With this work Chu showed why he occupies such a high place in the company’s design team.

Mercedes AMG GT3 is a racing version of the AMG GT road car boasting the old 6.2 liter AMG V8 rather than the 4.0 liter bi-turbo unit you find in the production version. It’s a customer race car, meaning that private teams can purchase and modify it for different racing series. But it’s not just that. You can buy this car, if you have 400 thousand Euros lying around, and use it as a track toy.
