Only a day after Kia announced the launch of an all-new Sportage crossover at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show by releasing three intriguing renderings of the car, the actual 2016 Kia Sportage was spotted out and about in Korea. We know it’s the Sportage we’re looking at thanks to those renderings.
We don’t get to see the front of the 2016 Kia Sportage in this footage, and that’s frankly the most interesting part, but the profile and those tail lights are telltale signs of this SUV’s identity. And if you are thinking that’s looking too like a Hyundai Tucson, well you are right. These two are close cousins.

While official photos and details of the car are yet to be revealed, chances are the 2016 Kia Sportage will have the same engine lineup as the current generation, including a 1.6 GDi unit it shares with Hyundai, a 2.0 liter and a 1.7 liter diesel for the European markets. Front-wheel-drive will be the default configuration, but AWD will be available as an option and standard feature on select models.
