BMW’s second concept model for the 2015 Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance is a tricked-out version of the M4 called the GTS. As the first special edition M3/M4 model in the U.S., BMW M4 GTS boasts not only new looks, it also showcases new technologies.
Design-wise, you may not find BMW M4 GTS very appealing, what wit its fairly ridiculous paint scheme – Frozen Dark Grey metallic with Acid Orange accents – and wheels that appear to be modeled on the best of what the 1980s had to offer. But that’s mainly because you have seen way too many great looking M4s in the aftermarket scene. This just does not live up to the expectations.
That said, BMW M4 GTS has a number of redeeming features that you won’t find on any tuner model. It has super clever aerodynamics, with features like manually adjustable front splitter and rear wing, designed to minimize axle lift and increase downforce. It also has a water injection system which is complicated system that enhances the performance of the turbochargers. Other highlights of the M4 GTS include innovative rear lights featuring OLED and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic hood.
“While the BMW M4 Coupe embodies the ideal combination of motor sport genes and unrestricted everyday usability, the BMW Concept M4 GTS previews an emotionally powerful and exclusive special model conceived with an eye for trailblazing technology and a keen focus on the race track,” explains Frank van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “Despite its outstanding track ability, it is still fully road-legal. This is racing technology for the road in the truest sense.”
