Following a few mysterious teasers, some of which we admittedly mistook for teasers for the upcoming Chiron hypercar, the amazing Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo virtual concept finally breaks cover. The car will soon hit Playstations everywhere, but before that it will make a quick stop at the 2015 IAA.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show we will get to see a real life model of the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo, showcased here in official renderings. Essentially a heavily tricked-out racing Veyron, the virtual concept looks imposing and aggressive. But we doubt it previews anything about the design of the Chiron. This thing looks, to be brutally honest, a bit infantile.
Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is instantly recognizable as a Bugga, what with that horseshoe grille and LED lights that resemble the headlights of the Veyron. The car features a Le Mans prototype style aero kit with a massive splitter and a giant wing. The blue paint work is an homage to Bugatti race cars of the 20s and 30s. Bugatti knew better than to make up some ridiculous performance figures for this non-existent model.
“The Bugatti design team normally works only for the exclusive and very distinguished circle of the brand’s customers. Now Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo has given us the opportunity, for the first time, to do something special for our fans as well,” explained Achim Anscheidt, the head of Bugatti Design. “When the target group suddenly grows from 450 Veyron owners to several million fans, gamers and high performance aficionados, it is a very exciting matter. We had a lot of fun with this project.”
