The 510 horsepower AC Schnitzer BMW M4 we introduced to you back in the Spring is now back in the headlines, this time because it has set a new lap record at the Sachsenring race track. The tuned Bimmer set a time of 1:31.80, proving AC cars are more than just a pretty face.
The main force behind the excellent performance AC Schnitzer BMW M4 shown at the race track is tricked-out turbocharged engine onto which the tuner has added a new ECU map and a custom exhaust system. It makes 510 hp and 645 Nm of torque instead of the standard 430 hp and 540 Nm.
Another reason for this car’s superior trackability is the aero kit it sports. A lot of people may think it’s only there to give the M4 a sportier look, but this package has been in the wind tunnel and has proven its worth aerodynamic-wise. The front splitter with its side flaps and the tall rear spoiler contribute greatly to make AC Schnitzer BMW M4 a more formidable track weapon by generates lots of downforce. Combine that with the sport suspension, light alloy wheels, and uprated brakes the tuner has fitted to this car, and it’s no wonder how this M4 has become a record setter.
