Race Of Champions is an annual event in which the winners of all classes of Motorsport gather for a few days of friendly competition in a variety of races, at the end of which one of them will be crowned the champion of champions. For this year’s event in London a number of Mercedes AMG GT S models have been prepared for the track racing part.
Well, we say prepared, but really they are just normal Mercedes AMG GT S models garnished with some racing stripes. Still, the standard car is more than capable of putting on a good show for the spectators as the champions race them against each other around an in-door track. Among the AMG GT pilots at the Race Of Champions 2015 London are Mercedes-AMG brand ambassador David Coulthard and the freshly crowned DTM-Champion Pascal Wehrlein.
Powered by a 510 horsepower 4.0 liter bi turbo V8 engine mated to a seven speed dual clutch transmission, the Mercedes AMG GT S model is a serious sports car whose name is mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari 488 GTB. It is also a luxurious grand tourer and a handsome posemobile. Mercedes-Benz is still not ready to completely let go of their image as the makers of the world’s finest multi-purpose vehicles.
