The European interior specialists at Carlex are back with another interesting new projects, this time based on one of Mercedes-Benz’s old and forgotten models. Carlex Design Mercedes R-Class boasts the nicest combination of leather and suede we have ever seen on a car.

As always, the treatment given to Carlex Design Mercedes R-Class is a thorough one covering pretty much every visible surface of the interior. Given the black paint job on this model, the owner has gone for a dark interior finish which complements the exterior very nicely, and also is a work of art on its own.

Beginning with the seat upholstery, we have black leather and Alcantara in black and grey, mixed in a unique design and garnished with white stitching and piping. The main highlight here is hippopotamus nubuck leather accents which Carlex maintains come “from non-endangered species and were purchased only from legal sources.” They look really cool.

The dashboard is adorned with leather and suede as well, plus some nice wooden trims and contrast stitching. The pillars and headlining is all suede. The steering wheel on Carlex Design Mercedes R-Class is another major feature of the project, featuring Alcantara, leather and wood.  Come to think of it, this interior package is way more interesting, and valuable, than the car to which it’s given!
