You have to be somewhat old for the name Ginetta to mean anything to you. But if you are, you know they are the makers some of the most charismatic British sports and racing machines. Now there is a new one, Ginetta G57 prototype racer, set for debut at the 2016 Autosport International motor show.
The manufacturer has not released many details on the specs of Ginetta G57, only that it features a carbonfibre monocoque chassis with a carbon crash box and FIA-approved steel rollcage for maximum driver safety. Eligible for sports car racing series around the world, the prototype racer is powered by a Chevrolet-sourced LS3 6.3-litre V8 engine with 580bhp, mated to a Xtrac six-speed sequential transaxle gearbox.
Lawrence Tomlinson, Chairman of Ginetta, said: “Myself and Ginetta are delighted to be launching the G57 at Autosport International this January, the show represents the ideal place to introduce our latest model to the public and celebrate the continued success of the Ginetta Motorsport Ladder. If you want to try a Ginetta, we’re also going to be entertaining fans with Ginetta Thrill Rides at the ever-popular Adrenaline Zone so don’t miss out!”
Ginetta G57 prototype racer has already been accepted for competition in the VdeV series in France. The car can be configured to suite a wide range of driver grades or experience. There is no word on the pricing yet.
