It is quite an occasion to see, say, Angelina Jolie out in the wild, right? And it is even more startling seeing her in a cool designer dress. Well, this is the automotive equivalent of that scenario. What we have here is a Porsche 911 GT1 in a unique livery.
Now, Porsche 911 GT1 is a bit of a unicorn as it is, with only 25 units built in street-legal or Straßenversion guise, and that only because of the rules of FIA GT series which called for a production version of the racing cars participating in the events. So to see one of these things customized with a fresh paint job and a cool livery is off the hook. Of course, if you’re ever going to see such a thing, Monte Carlo would be the place to look for it.
By today’s standard Porsche 911 GT1 is not that fast, boasting a 550 horsepower flat-six turbo engine that takes its 1,000 kilo bulk form 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of nearly 310 km/h. It is not even that nice to drive, being in essence a GT racing car. But as far character, charisma, attitude, and all those cool traits go, none of the modern hyper car hold a candle to the GT1. If you’ll excuse a cheesy gang analogy, it’s like comparing Rick Ross to John Gotti. There’s just no competition.
