Mercedes E-Cabrio, the convertible version of the E-Class Coupe, is one of the most under-appreciated cars in its class. The thing has style, prestige, luxury and performance, although not every one agrees on the latter. That’s where Mcchip-DKR comes in.
The owner of this Mercedes E-Cabrio clearly wasn’t happy with the performance of his E500 V8 engine. That’s saying something, because the 4.7 liter bi turbo unit offers a factory standard 408 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque and those are more than decent figures. But at any rate, it didn’t deliver the kind of punch he wanted.
So he sent the car to Mcchip-DKR tuning center and they did to the engine what they do best: they’ve chipped the hell out of it. With the tuner’s tailored software now dictating how that V8 engine does things, the power output of this bad boy has gone up to a much more exciting 497 horsepower and 724 Nm of torque. We go ahead and call it a 500-hp car.
So those of you who always nagged that there isn’t an AMG version of Mercedes E-Cabrio have no an alternative. And it costs a lot less than the real thing would have if it existed.
