Porsche Experience Center in Silverstone is, to a Porsche fan, Bethlehem. It is the holiest of holy places for putting a sports car through its paces, especially one designed from the ground up for handling twisty roads – a car like the new Porsche 718 Boxster.
So instead of making a pointless ad showing the car driving through some CGI-enhanced mountain road, they sent a Porsche 718 Boxster to the Silverstone center where Chief Driving Consultant Gordon Robertson take it around the course and discusses what makes this bad boy tick:
Porsche 718 Boxster, just to go through its technical specs real quick, comes with a new turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine. Actually, there’s two of them: a 2.0 liter 300-hp unit in the Boxster, and a 2.5 liter 350-hp unit in the Boxster S. Both benefit from VTG technology (variable turbos) which enhances performance while reducing fuel consumption (EU6: 8.1 – 6.9 l/100km; CO2 emissions: 184 – 158 g/km). A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but you can order the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) dual clutcher for both variants.
