So yesterday was the national donut day in America and it was an occasion many brands took advantage of to promote themselves using clever donut-related tricks. One of the best publicity stunts was the one pulled by Nissan in which they employed Formula Drift driver Chris Forsberg to help make some real donuts by doing some car donuts in a Nissan 370Z Nismo.

Performed at a production set in Southern California, the Nissan 370Z Nismo donut challenge was for Forsberg to glaze 300 donuts at once by spinning the car over two pallets of sprinkles weighing in at more than 2,800 pounds. The idea was for the glaze rooster tail to cover the donuts as the driver did went around. After 15 passes, 325 donuts and 120 boxes of sprinkles they really didn’t end up with edible donuts, but this really cool video for us to watch:

Only Americans would take a fattening food so seriously as to make a national day for it. We have a sneaking suspicion this is a more important day for some Americans than, say, the Memorial Day, or Columbus Day.
