Following the immense success of their 30 Jahre (30 Years) M5 models, BMW is now playing the same trick with the M3. A limited production run of 500 BMW M3 30 Jahre editions have been announced for the U.S market, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic model, each priced at $86,150.
As you would expect, BMW M3 30 Jahre draws many inspirations from the first-generation E30 M3, namely the exterior color. It’s called Macao Blue metallic and it was used on the Sport Evo version of the original. The paint work is complemented with BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line with enhanced features such as the kidney frame, rear M3 designation and Sports exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes.
Inside the cabin the 30 Jahre treatment gives you access to BMW Individual Full Merino Leather in bi-color Black/Fjord Blue with color-matching contrast seams, trim finishers in carbon fiber with Black Chrome accents and the embroidered front headrests, M sports seats with woven-in BMW M stripes, and a whole host of “30 Jahre M3 1/500” badges also featured on the outside.
Fortunately, BMW M3 30 Jahre is not all show and no go. The car comes with Competition Package as standard which means its engine packs an extra 19 horsepower over the standard model (for a total of 444 hp and 406 lb-ft) and also features modified Adaptive M suspension, Active M differential on the rear axle and new Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), as well as 20-inch forged Light Alloy wheels with 666 M star spoke design.
