While BMW is busy telling anyone who listens how great the new G30 5 Series is, their loyal tuner G-Power is reminding everybody that there is still plenty of life left in the old F10/11 model. The latest iteration of G-Power BMW M550d is so good, it really is the only 5er one would desire.

Starting with a 3.0l six-cylinder engine packing 381 hp (280 kW) and 740 Nm torque, G-Power BMW M550d was put by the tuner under a strict competition diet in which it got the D-Tronik 5 V1 power module placed between the factory ECU and engine. It results in an extra 54 hp and 110 Nm of torque for a total output of 435 hp (320 kW) and 850 Nm of torque.

The cool thing about this power module is that it is not always active so as to have a negative effect on the efficiency of the engine. The software that operates it is tuned to engage only under full throttle, whereupon it triggers the unique fueling and boost curves that produce the additional power. It also enables the individual owner to program in his or her desired throttle response factors for early or late engagement of the system.

The only styling mod G-Power BMW M550d gets in this program is a set of HURRICANE RR wheel available in the dimensions 20-inch or 21-inch and three colours to choose from: “Jet Black”, “Gun Metal Grey” and “Stardust Silver”.
