This is certainly one of the weirdest supercars spotted in an exotic French location this summer. This superb black on black Mercedes McLaren SLR looks pretty much normal, except for the boot, which appears to be in disagreement with the rest of the car about what color it should wear!

So it’s black all the way to the trunk lid, where it changes color and become metallic silver, which is also an official SLR color. What we think has happened here is the original black trunk lid was damaged and the owner managed to source a salvaged part from a silver SLR. He just didn’t bother painting it, which is a bit odd, given the class and prestige of a car like the McMerc.

This McLaren SLR is on British plates which reinforces the speculation above. UK has one of the biggest salvaged parts market. You can probably find parts for Bugatti Veyron there, let alone a SLR.

Back in its days McLaren SLR was one of the world’s top three hyper cars along with Ferrari Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT. It still is a dream car, but technologically it’s kind of old news, what with a supercharged V8 engine and a traditional automatic transmission.
