It is not like we haven’t seen enough of Mercedes AMG GT already, but official debut ceremonies are always very special. So let’s check out the new sports car’s world premiere at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, attended by a number of hotshots including the CEO of Daimler and the boss of AMG.

Before we find out what AMG’s top brass thinks of their latest product, let’s have a closer look at the Mercedes AMG GT in this nice walkaround video:

Now it’s probably a good time to let the boss of AMG give us the skinny on the GT and the philosophy behind it as the company’s new range-topping model:

With a lightweight body and a powerful yet efficient bi-turbo V8 engine, Mercedes AMG GT heralds a new era for high-performance sports car in which you don’t have to compromise on fun for the sake of economy or vice versa. The GT packs 510 horsepower (462 hp in the base model) sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an electronic differential (mechanical in the base version). Zero to 100 km/h sprint takes less than four seconds in this car and the top speed is north of 310 km/h.
