SEMA Preview: Mazda MX-5 Concepts

MX5 SPEEDSTER EVOLUTION Teaser 600x331 at SEMA Preview: Mazda MX 5 Concepts

With only a few days remaining to the 2016 SEMA tuning show in Las Vegas, Mazda unveiled two MX-5-based concepts they have prepared for the event. The Mazda MX-5 Speedster Evolution and Mazda MX-5 RF Kuro concepts represent extreme versions of both variants of the sports car, with the former being a second go at last year’s concept.

Yep, Mazda MX-5 Speedster was first seen at 2015 SEMA, but this year it comes with an ‘Evolution’ badge stuck to the end of its name and what that means is Mazda has improved upon their work by shedding another 100 lbs off the weight of the car. The means the Speedter Evo is now approximately 350 lbs. lighter than a stock MX-5 soft top. It also gets a new White Ether paint job.

As for the Mazda MX-5 RF Kuro, this model is set to create some hype for the recently launched Fastback Targa version of the sports car. It comes in a semi-matte metallic concept color developed in-house called “Kuro,” which means “charcoal” in Japanese, and boasts 17×7.5-inch RAYS forged wheels, 215/45R17 BF Goodrich Rival G-Force tires and the adjustable suspension from the Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup Presented by BF Goodrich.
