Cadillac announced the official launch date and pricing of the new generation CTS. The car has received many positive reviews about its looks and features, and if Caddy’s last effort, the ATS, is any indication, it should also be great to drive. We are probably looking at a winner here.

That is why you can justify the CTS’ starting price of nearly 50 grand. OK, so its $46,025 including $925 destination charge, but when you put some options on it it’ll go beyond 50 Gs. Cadillac offers three optional packages – Luxury, Performance and Premium – and two engines – 2.0T turbocharged four cylinder or 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 – as well as rear- or all-wheel-drive.

The brilliant 2.0 liter Turbo makes 272 horsepower and takes you from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. This is sort of the entry-level model, but even so, it comes with Brembo brakes and Magnetic Ride Control – the same suspension system used in the previous CTS-V model, and 18-inch wheels.

Then we have the CTS Vsport model, powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine, developing 420 horsepower. This is the most desirable version of the new CTS. It comes only as with rear-wheel-drive, and sadly, not manual. You get an eight-speed automatic transmission, hooked up to an electronic limited slip differential. The cost of this baby is $59,995, including $925 destination.
