As promised Volkswagen revealed the new generation of the ever lasting Beetle simultaneously in China, America and Germany. It gets more retro.

For the unveiling  ceremony they had “The Black Eyed Peas” play hits from their latest album at the MTV World Stage Concert in New York, Belgian duo “2manydjs” playing a DJ set in Berlin and MTV VJ sound set at the Shanghai Motor Show.

The show aside, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is said to bridge the gap from old and familiar to new lifestyles with its new, sort of, design, larger size (15.2 cm longer and 8.4 cm wider than th previous model) and new technologies. It features extended bonnet, sharply swept-back windscreen and a longer wheelbase. The interior is modified too and you no longer sit 60 miles away from the windscreen!

From launch the car will be available with a range of good engines including two versions of a 2.0 liter TDI with either 140 or 200 PS and with either a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox. It can also be had with 2.5-litre 5-cylinder 170 hp unit, 1.2-litre 105 PS, 1.4 liter 160 PS, and a 200 PS 2.0 liter TSI.
