Chrysler recently held a media test drive event for the 2013 SRT Viper at the Gingerman Speedway, South Haven, Michigan, so selected automotive reporters can have their first ever drive in this new American super car. SRT CEO Ralph Gilles himself attended the event, and took the wheel of a Viper for a few laps around the circuit. In this video he shares his views on the car with us.

With all the technology features found in the new Viper, such as traction control or infotainment system, one might imagine that it’s gone kinda soft. You might think SRT engineers had to compromise on power and speed to make the Viper more comfortable and less dangerous. Ermm… not so. This thing has a massive 8.4 liter V10 engine. It is absolutely bonkers. How can a car with those looks and 640-hp and 600 lb-ft of torque be soft?

The only thing soft about the new Viper is its price, which starts at $97,395.
