A few weeks ago Koenigsegg proudly introduced the Agera R BLT, a bespoke one-off version of the Swedish hyper car built for an anonymous Chinese businessman. The gentleman in question never received his car though, as it was seized by Chinese customs officials upon arriving at Zhanjiang port. They say it was being ‘smuggled’ into the country.
That probably means the owner was trying to evade paying import tax, which in China is about 100 percent of the value of the car. Now, taking into account that the Agera R BLT is worth 2.3 million USD, you kinda feel for the man. I’d send the car in with a parachute to avoid paying another 2 million in tax.
That said, Agera’s tax probably isn’t the only one Mr. businessman has tried to dodge. So officials may not let go of the BLT until he clears his debts. There is a massive campaign going on in China to seize import cars that haven’t paid their taxes to fight smuggling.
As for the car, this tailor-made Agera features a tinted blue paint job with rec accenting and clear carbon parts, a well as a blue leather interior, and oh yes, a 1140 horsepower twin-turbo V8.
