The M156 AMG V8 engine is kinda outdated now, but it is such a great powrtrain that even Mercedes Benz themselves are reluctant to let it go. They just put a new version of it in a special edition C63, called Edition 507, to create a faster, more exclusive model.

As the name suggests, the V8 engine in the Edition 507 makes 507 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque. The extra horsepower is the result of using some of the SLS AMG bits and bobs, such as forged pistons, new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft. It also gets a variable air intake.

The extra oomph translates into a new 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.2 seconds (4.3 for the estate version), and a top speed of 280 km/h, because the Edition 507 comes as standard with the AMG Driver’s package. The 507 comes with composite brake discs.

Visually this special edition borrows a few cues from the C63 Black Series, such as the distinctive openings in the hood. It also gets red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels with 235/35 R 19 (front) and 255/30 R 19 (rear) tires, carbon spoiler lip on the boot lid (Saloon and Coupé only), carbon grille surrounds and carbon mirror caps, and darkened lights. This special paint you see here is known as designo magno platinum finish.

The interior too comes with a number of exclusive features, including three equipment packages: porcelain designo leather/DINAMICA, black designo leather/DINAMICA and black designo leather. In the case of the designo leather/DINAMICA upholstery, light-coloured contrasting topstitching makes for an attractive highlight. The AMG Performance steering wheel in Alcantara® with light-coloured contrasting stitching has a 12-o’clock marking. The selector lever of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission is finished in DINAMICA and features an AMG badge. The steering wheel and selector lever gaiter also have light-coloured contrasting stitching.

Mercedes C63 AMG “Edition 507” will make its debut at the Geneva Motor show. Pricing will be announced later.
