Tinsel town is a giant melting pot constantly replenished with new and varying talent. Some make it and carve out illustrious careers, whist others are blessed and given a second wind, their longevity taking them well into their golden years. There is another breed, however, a group that falls into sub categories. Some experience massive overnight success at a young age and can’t handle the fame, often taking to alcohol or drugs. Britney Spears
In 2008, during the period she was battling Kevin Federline for custody over her children, pop princess Britney Spears overdosed on amphetamines just before she was strapped to a stretcher and taken to hospital where she was placed under psychiatric care. Just days later, Britney famously shaved her hair in a downtown salon.

Winona Ryder
One of my favourite stars during my teens, Winona Ryder, was arrested in 2001 for stealing $5,500 worth of designer clothes. The Heathers star was charged with theft and vandalism and had to attend psychological and drug counselling on account of her whopping 37 prescriptions written by 20 doctors under six different names.
Winona Ryder obviously isn’t a car fan since the only picture of her with a car is this American vehicle – can any car nerds guess what it is?
Mel Gibson
Lethal Weapon and Mad Max star Gibson is rich… over half a billion $ rich, but this doesn’t prevent a meltdown of gigantic magnitude. After racist chants including the rape of his wife, police pulled him over for drunk driving. He then proceeded to start shouting and blaming the Jews for all the wars and even called Winona Ryder an oven dodger. This is something he’ll never shrug off – from hero to zero in one drunken episode.
Apart from owning an island and a private jet, Gibson owns a Smart Car, a Lexus LS600, a Mercedes CLS 500 and a Maserati Quattroporte.
Charlie Sheen
Probably one of the most well-known and public meltdowns happened to actor Charlie Sheen. The brilliant actor was relatively unsuccessful because of the many legal issues he faced because of drug abuse and messy divorces – he married three times and has five children. In 1998, he overdosed on cocaine and was hospitalized. In 2009, he was even arrested for assaulting his wife. Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore didn’t just find fame early as an actress but she also found trouble early too. She was smoking aged nine, drinking aged 11 and smoking weed and snorting cocaine aged 13. At 14 she was in rehab and attempted suicide. Three years later she posed naked for the cover of Interview magazine and two years after that she climbed onto David Letterman’s desk and showed him her breasts. So you see, this is one troubled individual. Thankfully, she recovered and is now making a success of her rekindled career.

Robert Downey Jr.
I don’t think anyone in Hollywood has been in and out of rehab more times than this man. His tales of woe are not dissimilar to Barrymore’s, his problems starting at a young age – he claims he was addicted to drugs from the age of 8, and to compound his problems into a few sentences, his other troubles included cocaine and heroin offences, speeding whilst in possession of firearms, trespassing and prison time. Remember the infamous cheeseburger video his daughter played back to him in an attempt to make him realise just how drunk he was – rolling around on his bathroom floor topless and trying to eat his burger whilst telling the camera just how lonely he was. What about when he wet himself on an airplane? Because The Hoff is an enigmatic and loud character, no one really took him seriously in the first place, so now he is on the straight and narrow, people love him that much more. From reality TV judge to Gumball Rally contender, Hasselhoff still has it in my eyes.
Hasselhoff owns a Mercedes CLS, a Maserati Gran Turismo, and his Gumball 3000 Audi R8, a car that he caused mayhem in throughout the rally’s 2013 15th Anniversary.
