Mercedes S Class Coupe new 600x340 at Mercedes S Class Coupe: Official Details

Mercedes-Benz released the official detail of the new S-Class Coupe, revealing the new technical features of the car. We thought there is no way the Coupe S-Class is going to be more technologically-advanced than the sedan. But astonishingly, it is.

We discussed the design features of the Mercedes S-Class Coupe when we should you the first pictures of it earlier. So here let’s cut right to the chase and check out the amazing new equipment that make this luxury two-door such a breathtaking proposition.

Available as an option for the S-Coupe is the famous Magic Body Control suspension system. Called “suspension with eyes” by Mercedes, this system now comes with curve tilting function, a system that enables the car to lean into bends in a manner similar to a motorcyclist or skier. This increases cornering speed and driving fun. The engineers have taken countermeasures to reduce the effect of lateral acceleration on the occupants.

2015 Mercedes S-Class Coupe also comes with a clever head-up display system and a touchpad command input system. The HUD provides information about vehicle speed, speed limits, navigation instructions and driving assistance system messages in a high-resolution light standing on the bonnet two meters from the driver’s eye. Meanwhile the touchpad allows all the head-unit functions to be operated using finger gestures. This of course is not a new system, as Audi has been offering it for years. And, at any rate, it’s a gimmick.

To be launched in the second half of 2014, the S-Class Coupe will come initially with a 4663 ccV8 biturbo engine developing 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque. A sport exhaust system with twin-pipe and flaps is standard to give the Coupe a sportier character than the sedan. You can also order the car with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

As for the special standard features of the S-Coupe, we can mention LED Intelligent Light System, which is quite impressive. But it’s not as impressive as the optional system available with 47 Swarovski crystals, of which 17 angular crystals form the flare-shaped daytime running lamps, with 30 round-shaped crystals making up the turn indicator lamps.

Needless to say the car is fully-loaded with all sorts of comfort, convenience and safety features and technologies known to man. But to mention a few, you get DISTRONIC PLUS with Steer Assist and Stop&Go Pilot, BAS PLUS with junction assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive High-beam Assist Plus and Night View Assist Plus. You also get COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS and PRE-SAFE PLUS, as well as AIR?BALANCE package including the components “fragrancing” and “ionisation”. Last but not least, you have the choice between Burmester surround sound system and the Burmester High-End 3D surround sound system.
