Unlike European car makers, American brands rarely do special editions. That is probably why Cadillac didn’t make a big fuss about a new edition of the ATS they have come up with, called Crimson. The name obviously refers to the Crimson Red paint job which is the most special feature of the car.

Besides the color, Cadillac ATS Crimson SE gets some subtle mods that set it further apart from normal models. It comes with a small front spoiler, rear diffuser, trunk lid spoiler and aero side skirts. It also gets a set of special 18-inch wheels. Just about the only interior upgrade you get is suede accents on the steering wheel and the gear knob.

Cadillac ATS Crimson does not seem to be getting any extra features over standard models, or at least Caddy does not mention anything. Engine-wise, you can choose between a 2.0 liter turbo four-pot with 270 horsepower and a 3.6 liter V6 with 320 horsepower. The drivetrain options include rear- or all-wheel-drive, and a manual or automatic transmission.

Launched in time for spring, the 2014 Cadillac ATS Crimson special edition is expected to come with a healthy premium over the standard version. UPDATE: Pricing has been confirmed for the ATS Crimson: $46,010 for the 2.0T Performance Collection and $51,010 for the 3.6L Premium Collection.
