BMW i8 Tested on Road and Track

at BMW i8 Tested on Road and Track

There is no doubt that BMW i8 is one of the most baffling new cars launched this year. It is a three-cylinder hybrid that looks like something like out of a science fiction film, but it can outperform a Porsche 911. To understand what’s the deal with the i8 you need to take a deep look at it.

That is exactly what Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman did. To make things more interesting, he first checks out a conventional sports car, Jaguar F-Type R, before testing the performance of BMW i8 on the track. He continues with a review of the car on the road and covers pretty much all the bases.

Total system output of BMW i8 is 362 horsepower. That is enough to take this 1,490 kg car from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The car has a maximum range of over 500 km, 35 of which can be driven in electric mode.
