Land Rover Series I 0 600x373 at Kahn Classics: Land Rover Series I

Kahn Design is showing off another one of their fine classic cars, this time a 1956 Land Rover Series I. The legendary SUV featuring a Deep Bronze Green exterior and Green Vinyl interior has been restored to its original glory before appearing on TV as the star of a British car show.

Land Rover Series I was inspired, and built on the platform of, the Willys Jeep military vehicle. Unlike its American father though, the Brit was born in 1948 and missed the war. It’s grandchildren – the Defender and the Range Rover – however, did serve the Queen and the Country in various military and diplomatic posts.

Kahn’s Land Rover Series I was a barn find, collecting dust for over 41 years. They gave it a thorough restoration, had its 1.6 liter engine rebuilt by Tom Pickford, replaced the seats and canvas and windscreen wipers, installed new tires and gave it a new lick of paint. It looks absolutely superb now, especially if you remove the roof.

If you like this car, and who wouldn’t, make sure you also check out Kahn’s Mercedes SL and Ferrari 328 from their classic lineup. The British firm also has a hand in coachbuilding, having already built a bespoke speedster called Evanta Barchetta.
