Audi R8 is becoming like Pagani Zonda in the sense that the manufacturer just can’t stop producing it. The decade-old super car is still popular and they keep releasing new editions of it. This is the latest, called R8 Competition, and it is not the last special edition R8 we will see before the launch of the 2016 model.
With a 570 horsepower V10 engine, Audi R8 Competition replaces the GT variant as the most powerful Audi production vehicle to-date. It does 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 199 mph. We mentioned the performance figures in miles per hour because this model will only go on sale in America, and in limited numbers of just 60 units. Official debut is planned for L.A. Autoshow.
Other highlights of the Audi R8 Competition, besides big speed, include matte carbon exterior elements consisting of a fixed rear spoiler, engine bay, mirror housings, flics, side blades, front spoiler and rear diffusor. The car also features a bespoke sport exhaust system with black high-gloss tailpipes, gloss black wheels with 305 cross-section rear tires and ceramic brakes with anodized red brake calipers.
Inside the cabin you will find matte carbon fiber trim pieces and and illuminated “R8 competition” door sill inlays. Being an ‘Exclusive Line’ Audi, the Competition can be ordered with special interior and exterior colors and wheel finishes.
