BTR Genesis Coupe 600x320 at SEMA Preview: Blood Type Racing Genesis Coupe

SEMA show sure would feel empty without at least a dozen heavily tricked-out Hyundai Genesis Coupe models knocking about the venue. This is one of the Geni Coupes headed for this year’ show, and it is being prepared in collaboration with Chicago-based tuner Blood Type Racing.

BTR Genesis Coupe, unlike most other efforts which are focused around squeezing a V8 under the car’s bonnet, uses Hyundai’s 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo engine; an engine that will be dropped from the next-generation model’s option list.

What BTR does to this 2.0 liter unit, though, is more insane than anything we’ve seen so far. The innocent Korean motor gets a high-boost Precision Turbo turbocharger, strengthened and fully balanced internal components, a custom intake, intercooler, full exhaust kit and most importantly, nitrous injection. That is how it manages to make 800 horsepower at the rear wheels (nearly 1,000 horsepower at the crank). Granted, the use of nitrous makes this achievement a bit less impressive. But still, extracting 1,000-hp from a 2.0 liter is absolutely amazing.

Besides the crazy power, Blood Type Racing Genesis Coupe also gets a unique body kit designed by a famous Japanese designer, consisting of 40mm-wider front and 60mm-wider rear fenders, front bumper lip spoiler, rear diffuser and a GT wing.

Hyundai is also bringing mental versions of the Sonata and the Genesis sedan to this year’s SEMA Show.
