The first pictures of Audi Prologue Concept have hit the web ahead of the car’s official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The two-door coupe, which looks a bit like a knockoff of Mercedes S-Coupe, is supposed to preview Audi’s new design direction.
So one thing’s for sure: those ginormous front grilles are not going anywhere anytime soon. But the rest of Audi Prologue Concept shows a dignified and elegant design with calm and clever lines and exquisite little details that make the whole thing look more sophisticated. The concept also reveals the new shape of Audi’s head and taillights. They will be used in almost the same shape on almost every single production model. That is the Audi way.
Audi Prologue is a production-intent concept, but we’re not sure that fancy interior could be used in any production car before 2020. Everything appears to be a touchscreen panel, from the instrument binnacle to the dashboard display, to the center console. Even the passenger gets their own set of displays. It is of course expected from Audi to be at the top of the technology tree, and sure enough, this car is going to excel at that.
Technical details are yet to be released, but one can already guess the Prologue will have some sort of hybrid/electric powertrain, laser and LED lights, highly advanced safety systems, and maybe even some sort of autonomous driving capability.
