If you have been monitoring the tale of the new 2016 Audi R8 here on MW, you know that have already brought you a couple of photos of the new car, which after Audi dropped the first official teaser, turned out to be fakes. Now another image of the car has hit the web, claiming to be the real deal.

Well, it certainly looks convincing, what with those headlights, air intakes and front grille which look spot on vis-à-vis the teaser photo. Then again, it could be the work of an imaginative designer who has implemented the new styling features to the existing R8. So this is either the new Audi R8, or a very good rendering of it!

At any rate, the real 2016 Audi R8 could not look much different from what you see here. So if you are disappointed by the way it looks, the official unveiling, which should be pretty soon, given Geneva Motor Show is due next week, is not going to heal your wounds.

If we’re honest, we quite like the shape of the new headlights and those intakes are also pretty cool. But it is that front grille we cannot live with. It is dull, boring, and just plain ugly.
