Mercedes-Benz took the wraps of a mildly face-lifted version of the A-Class hatchback designed to keep the car fresh for another two to three years. The 2016 Mercedes A-Class Faceilft reconciles, according to the car maker, “sporty performance and enhanced comfort.”

The way it does that by offering a wide range of engines, from frugal and weak diesel units, all the way up to a 380 horsepower in the new A45 AMG model. What’s more, the new generation A-Class also boasts a tailored version of the DYNAMIC SELECT system which allows the driver to change the characteristic of the car at the touch of a button. Usually all these systems do is make the car more uncomfortable, but Mercedes promises their work more profoundly than that.

Looks-wise, the 2016 Mercedes A-Class Facelift comes with a diamond grille, new LED High Performance headlamps (optional extra; standard for A 45) and newly designed rear lights with exhaust tailpipes integrated into the bumper. Inside, you get a new instrument cluster of tubular design, a large main display, and new colors and materials such as Sahara Beige / black leather in the Exclusive package.

The engine lineup for the 2016 A-Class starts with the 80 kW (109 hp) A 180 d SE that does 3.5 liter/100 km, and goes up to 130 kW (177 hp) A 220 d, 160 kW (218 hp) A 250 AMG 4MATIC, and tops out with the 280 kW (381 hp) A 45 AMG 4MATIC. A 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission is standard across the range.
