At the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance BMW will turn up with two great new concept cars. One is a hotted-up M4 which we will get presently get to. The other is this, BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R. This car is basically the CSL Hommage from this year’s Villa d’Este in a racing livery.

Well, OK, there are some difference between the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R and its non-racing sibling. But they really aren’t that substantial, and they really do not make the car any less ugly. So we’re not counting them as improvement. BMW has been rather lazy with this concept.

Distinguishing features of BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R include an M racing livery on a white exterior, lightweight 21-inch wheels, carbon seats with white leather and six point harness, eBoost dial, and carbon fiber roll cage. They have also included some wooden trims as an homage to the original 3.0 CSL, but R’s have illuminated piping in them which can be used, for example, as guide for the track layout.

BMW has designed a special helmet for the Hommage R as well. What sets this helmet apart, besides the cool design, is that it comes with a visor with a built-in Head-Up Display. It projects information such as car’s speed, gear engaged and engine revs into the driver’s direct field of view.
