Nope, we don’t mean the paint work. Although, come to think of it, you could say the artsy design this Bugatti Veyron Vitesse is sporting depicts the ripples that appear in the paint job when you drive the car at the kind of speed. The video after jump shows this badass Bugga, nicknamed Hellbug, doing a cool 230 mph or 370 km/h on an Idaho freeway.

Don’t call the authorities, though. This feat was achieved during a sanctioned top speed run as part of the 2016 Sun Valley Road Rally which also included other rare exotica such as Porsche GT3 RS McLaren 675LT as well as an Aston Martin One-77.

I’m sure you know the specs and details of Bugatti Veyron Vitesse better than your own job description. But just to recap, the car packs a maximum torque of 1,500 Nm (at 3,000-5,000 rpm) from the 7.9-litre capacity of its W16 engine. The maximum output (1.200 hp) is reached at 6.400 rpm. These figures allow the car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standing in 2.6 seconds. The real top speed is 410 km/h (255 mph), but that’s achieved under special circumstances and using a special key to unlock that level performance. In “normal” handling mode, the Grand Sport Vitesse is electronically limited to 375 km/h (233 mph), which is close to what the Hellbug achieved.
