The recently revealed 2017 Audi S5 Coupe is yet to be put to test and show if it can give BMW M4 any headaches. But we can have an up close and personal look at the car and inspect its visual feature, and we’e picked an ‘Exclusive’ version for this purpose.
Sadly, even in Exclusive guise, the new Audi S5 Coupe is not what you would call a looker. The front-end is too weird, the headlights are ungainly, the side profile is too bland, and the rear-end looks like any other Audi built in the past twenty years. The Tango Red paint work and the 5-spoke aluminum wheels do help a little bit on this particular S5, but the car is just not even on the same page as the M4.
On area where the new S5 does redeem itself to some extent is the interior. Excellent quality and fit and finish, combined with a rather interesting design, have made that cabin a very pleasant place to spend time in. On this Exclusive model you find some extras such as fine Nappa leather and a healthy dose of Alcantara, as well as crimson stitching and a suede-wrapped steering wheel. Equipment-wise, too, the Exclusive S5 gets a passing grade thanks to features like virtual instruments, MMI, and Matrix LED headlights.
