Citroen, or rather their DS Automobiles division, announced the launch of the new DS Performance Line trim level for the DS 3, DS 4 and DS 5 models. Inspired by the success of the DS Virgin Racing, a Formula E team the brand is affiliated with, the new trim level is said to add a dash of ‘GT’ to DS cars’ blend of quirkiness and comfort.
The new DS Performance Line proposes to do that by visual and equipment upgrades rather than performance enhancements, which is a bit disappointing. But you get some good stuff in those areas, beginning with exclusive colors such as Shark Grey, Polar White, Arctic Steel, Perla Nera Black, Pearl White, Sport Yellow, Ruby Red, Platinum Grey, Cumulus Grey, Ultimate Red, and Hurricane Grey. The paint jobs are complemented with a contrasting black roof, large gloss black alloy wheels with Carmine Red accents, and exterior accents in Carmine Red, White and Gold on door mirrors and the rear spoiler.
As for the interior and the special visual treatment for the cabin, the main items include upholstery with black Dinamica cloth, or a choice of two grades of leather trim including Nappa or grained with contrast stitching and ‘DS Performance Line’ emblem embroidery. There is also chrome inserts on the steering wheel and door sill protectors as well LED ambient lighting. Equipment-wise, you can count on a 7-inch touchscreen, Satellite Navigation, Mirror Screen (MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay), and DS connected services via the DS Connect Box.
