The day after Mercedes unveiled the the redesigned S-Class with the V12 S600, BMW drops the new 760i and 760Li with a new twin-turbo V12 engine. No ,it’s not an engine actually! BMW has put an atomic bomb under the bonnet!

536 hp and 750 nm of torque is the outcome of the new engine linked to a 8-speed ZF transmission and it does about 18 MPG (nearly 14 liter per 100km/h) with Euro5 standards. The result if this much power is 0-100 sprint of 4.5 seconds in a car as heavy as Titanic!

The 760i is a big car itself but if you want more you can have the long wheelbase version, 760Li which is 5.5 inch (~14 cm) longer than the normal one, making the car 5.2 meters long. As you expect the 7-series is loaded with features, apart from the usual garnish you get with car some of the most advanced gadgets in the 760 include : Lane Change Warning, lane-departure warning, Active Cruise Control with stop-and-go function, Night Vision with detection of individual persons, a head-up display, back-up camera, sideview system, high-beam assistant and adaptive headlights, including Bending Lights, variable light distribution and adaptive headlight range control. It also runs on big 19 inch wheels.

The new BMW 7er is not a pretty car of course, but unlike its predecessor, it has a secret charm which makes it desirable, and now with this magnificent powerplant it’s got all it needs to take on the mighty Mercedes. Oh, by the way! you have to say it looks very cool in white!
