This could be the first diesel powered supercar! When it was first shown at Detroit Motor Show last year, it was an instant hit, a wild version of Audi R8’s already outrageous body with the state of the art V12 TDI engine. It was about to going into production but all of a sudden, Audi announced they cannot be bothered to make it!

They say the cost of making it cannot be justified. They have to re-engineer the R8’s platform for the new powertrain and that means trouble considering they have recently done the process for the the upcoming R8 V10 TFSI ! I think the V10 is the culprit here! it is pointless. It looks exactly like the V8 one and if it’s for the extra power, you can get much more than its 550 hp from tuning companies for much less money. So they should have made the V12 instead. And that could become a milestone for Audi but… they didn’t want it anyway!
