Honda’s in-house tuner Mugen has confirmed production of their exclusive Type-R Civic in a limited run of only 20 units for the UK. The car had made quit a fuss when it was revealed as a concept a while ago and that huge interest made the Japanese company to release it into the market. It will be built by hand at MUGEN Euro, based in Northampton and runs for £38,599.

Mugen Type-R is powered by a modified version of Civic’s 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine with a new camshafts, a modified intake system and a new software for the ECU. It chucks out a healthy 240 hp which seems to be enough to take on other hot hatchbacks in the British market .

The car is also improved significantly in terms o chassis and handling with a revised suspension set-up, with custom-made springs and dampers and new limited slip differential. It is also fitted with bespoke four-piston mono-block racing brake callipers, which sit under high-density, lightweight forged alloy wheels.

Mugen Civic Type-R comes with a racing grade body kit with a big air splitter at front, a huge diffuser at the back and an enormous wing on the hatch. It looks very cool, but the problem is that thanks to the new wing, rear visibility is now totally messed up!
