Rhys Millen Racing partnership with Hyundai to make crazy versions of the new Genesis Coupe has led them into this, a show car with a mid-mounted 500hp V8 for this year’s SEMA show! This engine transplant process is actually way more than just an ordinary tuning job, they literally had to build the car from the ground up again!
The engine used to create this insane Genesis is a 4.6-liter Tau V8 borrowed from the car’s bigger brother, the Genesis sedan. And it’s tweaked to 500hp and is mated to a custom 5-speed sequential gearbox to be able to hit 182 mph top speed.
“We’ve enhanced the original performance features and created a rear hatch for complete engine access and viewing pleasure,” said Rhys Millen, owner, Rhys Millen Racing. “The Genesis Coupe platform combined with the Tau V8 borrowed from Hyundai’s upscale Genesis sedan have allowed us to build a true show-stopper for SEMA. Placing the Tau V8 in the middle of the Genesis Coupe’s architecture will improve vehicle handling, acceleration and braking and enhance the already dynamic driving experience.”
RMR’s V8 Genesis Coupe rides on 20-inch wheels with Toyo T1R rubber and is fitted with a sport braking system from StopTech. This car is definitely one of the major show-stoppers at the upcoming SEMA show starting from November 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
If hyundia uses a V8 in the gen this is how it should be done, but a six speed would be nice, a 200mph track car would be wonderful
