VW has just refined its range of performance hatchbacks with new R version of the Golf VI and the Scirooco. There is the Golf R which has replaced the V6-powered R32 model and then there is the Scirooco R which comes straight from race track to the streets! Both cars are powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine developing around 270 hp and 350 nm of torque. Both cars also share the same styling cues including a very aggressive bodykit and 18-inch wheels.
However, the Golf R is priced at €36,400, while the Scirocco R,which many people would believe is better looking and sportier is cheaper at €33,475. Maybe that’s because the Scirocco has 265hp, 5 less than the Golf!
VW also offers the R-line equipments package as an aftermarket extra for the other models of the Golf and Scirocco, even diesel versions! The Golf R Line and Scirocco R Line can now also be ordered with exclusive features. These include distinctive 17-inch “Mallory” alloy wheels (18-inch optional), roof edge spoilers, R-designed bumpers, high-gloss radiator grill and a likewise black diffuser in the rear section. In the interior, sill panel strips show the R Line family resemblance. Sport seats in new design “Kyalami” with R Line logo in the headrests, a sport steering wheel, pedal covers and footrest in stainless steel round off the sporty image.
