VW has released first official pictures of its robust pickup truck, the Amarok, which will go on sale next year, first in South America and some months after that in Europe and the rest of the world. The Amarok will be built in VW’s factory in Buenos Aires, Argentina. VW says that the Amarok will offer practicality of a normal pickup along with comfort and quality of a sedan car.
The Amarok will be powered by a 2.0 liter common rail TDI diesel engine with Euro5 standard, which can be had with either 122hp or 163 hp, and rear or all-wheel-drive system. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard. The car also features electronic differential lock, off-road ABS, Hill Descent and Hill Hold Assist.
The Amarok is 5.2 meters long and ha s a cargo area which is 1,555 mm long and 1,620 mm wide, and can be loaded up to 1.5 tons. It also can tow stuff as heavy as 2.8 tons!
With the Amarok, VW is going to enter a new market, but it seems to have all the basis covered to become a successful player!
